Community Preservation Committee

The committee will consider CPA eligibility for six projects: historic nominations for 114 Main Street and 136 Main Street; a Survey of Historic Places and Spaces (Historic and Open Space); a ramp for launch of a roof-top watercraft (Open Space and Recreation); an Open Space/Recreation request for 4-8 Noel Street; and chimney repair at the Whittier Home Museum (Historic).

Discussion of the Community Preservation Committee sub-committee's Project Application Ranking Format for the Community Preservation Plan.

Public hearing and adoption of the City of Amesbury Community Preservation Plan (approved as amended to correct an appendix reference and to require committee consideration of public input during funding deliberations).

Members reviewed the draft Community Preservation Plan and proposed a public engagement session (proposed Sept. 9) to solicit public feedback, with requested edits to terminology, representative listings, images, and housing data.

The committee adopted the language presented in the current draft of the Community Preservation Plan (Passed 4-2-1) and decided the eligibility form will be 'highly recommended'; a public hearing on the plan will be scheduled at a later date.

Committee voted 4-3 to remove language in the Community Preservation Plan’s Community Housing evaluation criteria that prioritized local residents, city employees, and employees of local businesses.
