RVCS Committee on Trustees Meeting
Committee on Trustees reviewed candidate materials and recommended seven candidates to the full board to fill Board of Trustees vacancies, targeting coverage across accountability, finance, development, and other key expertise areas.
The Committee on Trustees met to review and evaluate candidates for appointment to the River Valley Charter School Board of Trustees. Members reviewed a consolidated, anonymized candidate tracker that recorded completeness of materials (resume, questionnaire, interview), conflict-of-interest indicators, primary expertise, board experience, and relationship to RVCS. Committee need/fit categories (Accountability, Finance, CoT, Development, Advisory, Foundation, PA) were used to align candidates to committee roles. The committee discussed evaluation criteria including the distinction between board oversight and management, Open Meeting Law awareness, confidentiality expectations, and ability to meet time commitments.
Committee discussion emphasized skills-based fit and balancing the slate across capability areas (accountability/education, finance/accounting, HR/compliance/operations, legal, teaching/school culture, special education/student transitions). Conflicts of interest as noted in the tracker were reviewed. Candidate discussion was conducted using numeric identifiers to preserve anonymization. The committee made a recommendation to forward seven candidates to the full board to provide coverage across the identified experience areas and to bolster all board committees. No public comments were recorded in the minutes.
