Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Board will hold officer elections and assign subcommittees, receive the library budget presentation, and consider votes on the Community Information Board Policy and the Museum Pass Policy.
The Board reorganized its leadership and committee structure: members unanimously elected Mak Marstaller as Chair, Jessica Ducrow as Vice Chair, and Ann Langlois as Secretary, and volunteers were assigned to subcommittees with several committee chairs designated (Finance: Mary Chatigny; Long Range Planning: Brenda Rich; Director Review: Jessica Ducrow; Communications: Jessica Ducrow; Ad-Hoc Fundraising: Alex Matthews; Preservation chair remains TBD). A Friends of the Library update reported increasing bookstore and membership revenues; Mak indicated he will continue as the Board’s liaison with the Friends. A correction to the December minutes attendance was made and the corrected minutes were approved by those present in December.
Staff presented the FY26 month-7 budget report and noted the Annual Appeal raised just over $15,000 to be transferred to the Charitable Trust; the director asked trustees to help brainstorm ways to communicate staffing needs during the budget season. Facilities and capital-project updates covered multiple ongoing issues: a frost-heave affecting the bookdrop access (temporary workaround in place), continued monitoring and planning for ramp replacement (a mayor-directed quote for a new metal ramp has been obtained), a stalled stone-wall repair, replacement of soaked carpet in a tech office, remaining lightbulb replacements, temporary fixes for a lower-level smell, and progress on window restoration (FY21 award with remaining balance noted). The Director’s report noted December visitation, staffing levels, program exhibits, and a delayed opening on January 7 due to untreated ramp ice; the Director Review Committee reported completion of a 360-degree evaluation. Old Business was moved to the next meeting and there were no public comments.
