RVCS Development Committee Meeting

The Development Committee met to review ongoing fundraising and upcoming event plans. Committee members received an annual appeal update reporting $6,108 raised to date, including 13 new donors who need thank-you notes; staff will coordinate sending those notes. Members discussed continuing to work with the graphic designer used this year, and a social-media idea (an “all hands on deck” photo) was suggested to promote giving. A fundraising professional’s suggestion to ask parents for a single annual contribution to cover classroom supplies was presented and discussed as a potential future strategy; committee members emphasized that cultivating a community and a consistent message remains a priority.

The committee also prepared for the school’s Read-a-Thon (scheduled to start Feb 3). Discussion focused on outreach and coordination with teachers—especially middle school language arts—to integrate the event with curriculum and increase participation. Ideas for student incentives (dress-up days, an icy-treat celebration) and sourcing refreshments (donations or Triton School District Food Services) were raised. Committee members were asked to follow up with sponsor contacts and to attend staff/level meetings to clarify resource needs. The committee planned to add a review of the development plan to the February agenda. No public comments were recorded.
