RVCS Committee on Trustees Meeting
The Committee on Trustees met remotely on December 10, 2025. Attendance and roll call were recorded and the committee approved the October 8, 2025 minutes. The body spent the meeting discussing internal governance and board development rather than taking any substantive external actions.
Primary topics included a planned bylaws update (members agreed there has been enough time for review and that the update should be added to a future agenda for a formal vote), board education and training, and ways to distribute board workload more evenly. Trustees discussed gaps in information flow from the Executive Committee, the need to move from discussion to action, and proposals to better align the board with Montessori best practices (including possible training and reinstating a short “Montessori Minute” tied to classroom practice). Other items covered were retreat training topics (SMART goals), creating "board buddies" to support new trustees, conducting 1:1s in advance of an external audit with follow-up training, improving transparency and access to meeting minutes, and strategies to rebuild family and volunteer engagement (tracking volunteer hours, communicating culture-building messages, and increasing board visibility at professional growth days). No public comments or external applications, ordinances, appointments, or budget items were voted on during the meeting.
