RVCS Finance Committee Meeting
Finance committee approved the draft FY2024–2025 audited financial statements (clean audit); implementation of a new accounting standard increased compensated absence liability by about $99K.
The Finance & Facilities Committee met on October 8, 2025 to review school financial matters and hear an outside presentation. Jenn Mayo from the Essex County Community Foundation described ECCF offerings including investment services; the Committee and Executive Director plan to review ECCF materials and discuss further at the next meeting. Committee members reported that the 2025–2026 financials are on budget through three months and discussed capitalization versus expensing of items such as Zoom and a Grounds Redesign.
The committee voted to approve the draft audited financial statements for the 2024–2025 fiscal year. Members noted implementation of a new governmental accounting standard for compensated absences resulted in an approximate $99,000 increase in the reported liability (a reporting requirement rather than an expected cash payment). The audit was described as clean with no findings; one timing issue related to funds from the Newburyport Conservation Committee will be resolved before the statements are forwarded to the full Board. There were no public comments recorded. The meeting adjourned at 12:45 PM.
