Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Trustees approved a recurring half-hour delayed opening each month for staff meetings, authorized adjusted library hours on Oct 27–28 for staff conference attendance, and approved using unrestricted Trust funds to hire a leadership coach for the director.
The Amesbury Public Library Board of Trustees met virtually on August 13, 2025. Trustees received routine updates including facilities and director reports, the Friends of the Library activities, the status of the window restoration project, and a pending determination from the tree warden about several front-yard birch trees. There was also brief discussion about the Ordway building with no substantive update beyond an upcoming planning committee appearance by the developer.
The board voted on three substantive staffing and budget items. Trustees unanimously approved instituting a monthly all‑staff meeting that will require the library to open a half hour later on every second Thursday. They also unanimously approved temporary adjusted public hours for October 27 (9:30 AM–5:00 PM) and October 28 (12:00 PM–8:00 PM) so four staff may attend the NELA conference. Finally, the board unanimously authorized use of unrestricted Trust funds to contract a leadership coach for the director for 10 sessions at a reduced rate; the coaching package includes an all‑staff meeting. There were no public comments during the meeting.
