Community Preservation Committee Meeting

The Community Preservation Commission met on June 18, 2025. Howard Snyder of OCED provided updates and led discussion on several administrative and planning items: he agreed to review City Council orders concerning the Fiscal 2026 CPC budget to confirm correctness and address any issues; he recommended commissioners review CPA/CPC plans from other communities as background for the committee's own plan development; and he reported that the Amesbury Master Plan remains unapproved. The commission discussed the exemptions to the CPC surcharge that were included in the approved ballot question and concluded that those exemptions would only create an issue for CPC if the city adopts a split tax rate, a scenario the committee believes it will have time to address.

The commission tentatively scheduled outreach meetings to gather input on priority projects: Open Space and Recreation in August, the Historic Commission in September, and the Housing Authority in October. The group set the next meeting for July 16, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. There were no public comments recorded in the official minutes. The meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.; the adjournment motion was made by Jay Williamson, seconded by Suzanne Egan, and approved unanimously.
