Library Board of Trustees Meeting

The Board reviewed monthly reports from the director and facilities staff, heard an update from the Friends of the Library, and received subcommittee and program updates. Major topics included ongoing facilities and capital projects (notably the window restoration bid process and several repairs/maintenance items), staffing notes in the director’s report, and outreach/programming activity including summer programs and new storytimes at a local rehab facility. Trustees discussed broader service and budget issues: the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) funding remains uncertain, prompting the MBLC to cut many databases and MVLC to explore consortium pricing for continued access; Aimie reported more information is expected in the coming weeks. The FY26 city budget was reported as having passed unchanged at a recent budget meeting, but officials expressed concern about potential mid-year cuts and Aimie noted her appointment to a mayoral Financial Advisory Board. A long-range planning contract has been signed and the planning project will begin in September. A Cultural Center renovation was reviewed and a subcommittee to develop use policies is being formed.
