Library Board of Trustees Meeting
Library trustees will review lending and borrower policy issues including a review of the Borrower’s Rights and Responsibilities policy and lending to residents of municipalities with decertified libraries, and will receive updates on the budget, facilities/capital projects, and an upcoming board election.
The board met on March 12, 2025. Major topics included a staff‑led rewrite of the Borrower’s Rights and Responsibilities policy (the Library of Things is already included), with trustees asking the director to revise language on Residents of Non‑MVLC libraries and bring the revised policy back in April. The separate Lending to Residents of Municipalities with Decertified Libraries policy will be incorporated into that rewrite. The director also reported grant awards for library programming: an Amesbury Youth Funding grant for Youth Services and an ACC grant for an adult program.
Facilities and operational updates were reviewed: window restoration work has advanced with a Bruner Cott project manager conducting a site visit and scoping vendors, a new cleaner is slated to start on April 1, the records‑room mini‑split remains under vendor repair, and several maintenance items (stone wall, shed roof, ramp quote) are awaiting quotes or DPW action. The director’s report covered programming and outreach successes (busy February vacation programs, ongoing passive crafts, outreach events), technology work to restore a microfilm reader, and staffing/operations notes including a staff development day rescheduled to March 20 with the library closing at 3:00 PM. Communications subcommittee minutes will be submitted at the April meeting. The board noted upcoming elections (five seats up in November; papers available May 15). No public comment was recorded.
