Cashman School Council Meeting
The meeting will include updates on MCAS performance and the school's Vision of the Graduate, plus reports on fifth grade celebration planning and parent/community engagement initiatives.
The Cashman School Council met on February 27, 2025. Members approved the January 30 minutes unanimously and reviewed parent/community engagement, testing, and fifth-grade celebration planning. The council agreed to change the Principal’s Coffee to a lunch-hour time (11:30–12:30) and to offer it virtually with an agenda to try to increase participation. There was no Community Voice public comment at this meeting.
Significant agenda items centered on fifth-grade end-of-year activities and school operations: the council confirmed multiple elements of the Fifth Grade Celebration (Carnival Day at Woodsom, a walking field trip to the playground, a fifth-grade dance, a Flatbread fundraiser on March 4, a spring photo fundraiser for the yearbook/celebration, and a family celebration on June 13 with a student dance afterward). The committee also reviewed MCAS scheduling (Grade 3 ELA on March 25–26, with Grades 4 and 5 to follow), noted that the Student Council will join a Vision of the Graduate focus group in April, and discussed playground/recess replenishment and the report-card grading close date of March 14. The March 27 meeting was cancelled for lack of quorum and future meeting dates were set for April 17, May 22, and June 12.
