School Committee
By City Charter, the Amesbury School Committee consists of 6 members, elected by ballot from the registered voters of the City. The seventh member is the elected Mayor. The School Committee members serve terms of four years. The School Committee meets twice a month on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month (schedule can change based on holidays) at 7pm in the library of Amesbury High School.

Amesbury School Committee Curriculum, Inclusion, and Community Engagement Sub-Committee Meeting
Spotlight Awards and planning for the 2026–2027 presentation series (including a technology survey) are on the agenda, along with a discussion of sub-committee goals.

Amesbury School Committee Meeting
New business includes approval of two middle school field trips (8th grade and 6th grade Camp Bournedale) and a first reading of the INTERACTING WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS (PROTECT ACT) policy. The committee will also receive routine reports including the Superintendent’s Report, Student Advisory Council, Whittier Tech and SEPAC updates, and subcommittee reports.

Amesbury School Committee Finance & Facilities Sub-Committee Meeting
Review of the FY26 year-end budget and multiple facilities updates including parking at Shay Elementary, signage/curb painting at AMS and AHS, and AMS air-conditioning. The sub-committee will also discuss goals for the 2026–2027 year.

Amesbury School Committee Subcommittee Policy, Personnel and Strategy Meeting
Subcommittee will review proposed policy language and APS implementation materials regarding interactions with law enforcement, student use of time-out/seclusion/physical restraint (JKAA, JKAA-R), and student drug and alcohol use policies (JFCH, JFCH-R).

Amesbury School Committee Meeting
The School Committee approved the 2026–27 school handbooks (noting they are living documents) and adopted the district and school committee goals for 2026–27. The committee also received an update on the Whittier regional agreement amendment work related to an MSBA school project and accepted a $1,000 donation for eighth grade social studies.

The committee will review the Q4 budget and multiple facilities matters including the Amesbury High School diamond field, FY27 capital projects, and the AMS Performance Center. The sub-committee will also hold a goals workshop for 2026–2027.
