Planning and Development Committee Meeting
2024-096 (Ordinance to expand the Renewable Energy Development Overlay District) was discussed and continued; the committee gave a positive recommendation on 2025-021, an Order to appropriate $500,000 from Free Cash for Amesbury High School 90' Diamond Field improvements.
The Planning and Development Committee met virtually and considered two agenda items. The committee received a brief Planning Board update on 2024-096, an ordinance to expand the Renewable Energy Development Overlay District (REDD); discussion was continued and the item was carried to the committee's next regular meeting on March 19. The committee also heard from Mayor Gove and Superintendent McAndrews on 2025-021, an Order to appropriate $500,000 from Free Cash to fund site construction services for Amesbury High School 90' Diamond Field improvements. Staff described the project scope: full resurfacing of the infield, sodding around the outfield and baselines, a new variable-height fence, stone dust around the dugouts, an accessible walkway to the bleachers, and relocation of the scoreboard. The High School will have priority use of the only 90' diamond in the city; Babe Ruth, Summer League and Community Access were noted as additional users, and the School Department will be responsible for maintenance. The committee voted unanimously (3-0) to send 2025-021 to the full City Council with a positive recommendation. The meeting adjourned at 7:21 PM.
