Conservation Commission
The Commission approved wetland permits for a seasonal dock at 51 Lake Attitash Rd (contingent on a revised plan), approved drainage improvements along Friend St. & Lindbergh Ave., approved shoreline/landscape work at 28 Birchmeadow Rd with planting plan conditions, issued a Negative Determination for sediment sampling at 7 Noel St (Powwow River), and confirmed a Certificate of Compliance for 193 Lions Mouth Rd.
The Conservation Commission reviewed several wetlands applications and environmental actions focused on shoreline and stormwater work. The Commission approved the seasonal dock at 51 Lake Attitash Road (NOI 002-1333) with a condition that a revised plan be submitted within 10 days; the dock approval followed legal counsel review and an abutter’s attorney letter asserting ROW ownership, though the Commission limited its decision to the dock’s environmental impacts. The Commission also approved drainage improvements between Lindbergh Avenue and Pleasure Pond (NOI 002-1335) after a site visit and review found no impacts to BVW and only minor impacts to land under water bodies, and approved shoreline hardscape and planting work at 28 Birchmeadow Road (NOI 002-1334) contingent on a revised planting plan using the Army Corps plant list within 10 days.
In other actions the Commission issued a Negative Determination for sediment sampling in the Powwow River at 7 Noel Street as part of the ongoing Manufactured Gas Plant investigation, with consultants and National Grid describing sampling methods and project goals. The Commission noted that OOC monitoring obligations were fulfilled at 193 Lions Mouth Road and a Certificate of Compliance was issued. Several hearings were continued or left pending (including 77 Elm St., 2 & 13 Merrimac St., and 7 Old Merrill) and a site visit and mitigation plan were requested for proposed tree removals at Batchelder Park.
