City Council Ad Hoc Budget Committee of the Whole Meeting
Ad Hoc Budget Committee held FY25 budget hearings with presentations from the Assessor, Treasurer/Collector, Information Technology, Mayor’s Office (including Legal Services), Administration & Finance, and City Clerk/Elections/City Council.
The Ad Hoc Budget Committee of the Whole convened for Budget Hearing #2 and heard FY25 budget presentations from multiple city departments: Assessor, Treasurer/Collector, Information Technology (MIS), the Mayor’s Office (including Legal Services), Administration & Finance, and the City Clerk (including Elections and City Council lines). Department heads presented their proposed FY25 budgets and itemized line accounts and priorities (examples included mapping and consulting in the Assessor’s budget, lockbox and tax-title costs in the Treasurer/Collector budget, cybersecurity and licensing in IT, a recommended increase for legal services in the Mayor’s budget, and line-item changes across Administration & Finance and City Clerk/Elections). Councilors asked questions and engaged in discussion with each presenter throughout the hearing.
The committee made one recorded formal decision: it voted unanimously to hold a follow-up meeting on June 4, 2024 to discuss the budget as a whole and to prepare a recommendation to the full City Council. No public comments are recorded in the minutes, and no final budget approvals were made at this hearing. The chairman also requested that all presentations be made available to councilors after the meeting.
