Amesbury Cultural Council Meeting

The Cultural Council met and reviewed grant activity, marketing, public art, and upcoming programming. In the grants discussion the council approved a venue and program change for a Delvena Theater Company performance — moving it to the Amesbury Library and switching to a live Zoom presentation of Salem’s Creepy Curses and Hauntings (noting a reduced Zoom fee). The council also voted to formalize a procedural change to pay grant recipients directly rather than by reimbursement; members noted that artists will need to submit W-9 forms and that the change has been discussed with the Mayor’s office.
The council heard marketing and public-art updates: a banner was taken down after complaints and members approved $200 for refreshed rack cards and business cards. Public-art projects discussed included a mural planned for Lake Gardner with a June 1 target and ongoing outreach to state highway staff; another mural for an industrial building remains in limbo. A visitor attended and noted local needs (the library has 15 tabletop easels to rehome and someone is sought to make signs for a pollinator garden). The meeting closed with scheduling reminders for upcoming poetry events and the next regular meeting date.
