Cultural Council

The agenda includes discussion of the Cultural Center's operations and programming, updates on public art projects and the Poet Laureate, a fundraising plan update and Cultural District discussion, and planning for Open Studios 2026.

Discussion of facility funding and approved grants for gallery lighting and hanging systems, review of rental income and 2027 budget needs including artist stipends, and consideration of programming including an October community art exhibit and a proposed Indigenous languages workshop by Joanna Tomah.

The committee will review its current financial status and discuss recent and planned Poet Laureate activities, including monthly poetry readings at Whittier House (Sept–Dec) and readings planned for 2027.

The council also advanced Open Studios 2026 preparations, hiring a brochure illustrator and a flyer distributor and assigning event roles.
