What is proposed

Materials, mounting and appearance

The applicant specifies a 1"-thick Komacel panel for the sign face; Komacel is a brand of rigid PVC-type sign material commonly used for exterior signs. The design in the package is a two-sided panel hung from a bracket between two posts. The submission and photomontage show the sign reading “grind & go cafe” and indicate the sign will not be illuminated.

Regulatory context and requirements

This review was conducted under the Town of Amesbury sign regulations (Section VII of the Amesbury Bylaws). The Planning Board issues sign permits to determine local bylaw compliance and placement; this municipal approval does not substitute for any State Building Code requirements. A building permit from the Amesbury Building Inspections Office is required before the approved sign may be installed. A building permit is an administrative permit that verifies the proposed work meets applicable building code and safety standards.
