Amesbury Cultural Council Meeting

The council focused on event planning, Cultural Center operations, and grant-cycle preparations. Members discussed the Public Intake survey results and 2026–27 priorities, upcoming MCC grant application dates and an applicant info session, and marketing tactics for year-end events. In marketing and event business, the council approved a $200 budget to boost social media posts and authorized the Salem Trolley rental at $3,750 for Open Studios; Open Studios updates noted sponsor commitments, 22 registered artists, and a full Cultural Center with a waitlist.
Operational decisions included expanding the Cultural Center rental policy with a new 2-hour $50 tier and permitting Amesbury nonprofits to use the space free on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in 2026. Treasurer and grants reports covered account balances and outstanding grant requests; the Poet Laureate reported Open Mics scheduled at the Whittier Home for the rest of the year. During public comment a resident sought an alternative location to City Hall and staff members agreed to follow up with possible venues and registration information.
