RVCS Accountability Committee meeting (Second October Meeting)

The Accountability Committee met to review an internal audit (Essential Elements Rubric) prepared by Karen Kuse and to discuss next steps for communicating and addressing identified areas of need. The audit highlighted needs including uninterrupted work cycles, improved collaboration, acquisition of Montessori materials, classroom consistency, and absenteeism. Committee discussion emphasized clear communication, actionable plans, and leveraging teacher and staff strengths to create greater buy-in; members also asked for a concise, metrics-focused presentation for the full Board with specific recommendations.

The committee discussed refinement of the annual caregiver survey to ensure questions yield actionable information and suggested adding items aligned with the internal audit to gather parent feedback on targeted areas. The group noted the positive impact of last year’s survey (for example, changes to professional development days) and encouraged administration to use the survey as a continuous-improvement tool. The committee also approved the minutes from the October 14 meeting, including an added detail to note and track the KH Covid cohort’s ELA scores and the overall decline in 3–8 combined female math scores. No substantive votes on policies, budgets, ordinances, or appointments were recorded.
