RVCS Accountability Committee Meeting
The Accountability Committee met by Zoom on August 26, 2025. Members reviewed attendance and approved the June 2, 2025 meeting minutes with an amendment noting Achala Godino’s absence. A. Ting called the meeting to order and the session concluded at 7:01 PM.
The committee spent the bulk of the meeting reviewing its roles and responsibilities, including the legal and DESE context for charter-school accountability, the committee’s advisory relationship to the full Board of Trustees, and the scope of oversight (academic performance — MCAS and internal assessments, organizational health such as staff retention and culture, and fidelity to the Montessori model and charter commitments). The group discussed expectations for members (time commitment, needed skills), tools and processes (annual accountability calendar, data dashboards, surveys, documentation), compliance and risk monitoring, and the importance of balancing transparency with student/staff privacy.
Committee business included finalizing the committee calendar and meeting formats (agreement that meetings will be either Zoom or in person, not hybrid) and confirming the September 16, 2025 meeting will be held over Zoom at 6:00 PM. Administrative updates covered reintroduction of members, the annual school survey timing (to be sent in January with results shared by March and survey questions ready for the full Board by November), an anticipated special education audit scheduled for February 2026 with a report expected before year-end, emphasis on careful review of disaggregated student data to protect privacy, and a proposal to add a progress-tracking tab to the draft accountability dashboard to better record accountability-plan criteria progress. No public comments or contested items were recorded.
