Community Preservation Committee Meeting
Appointed Mel Webster as minute taker and set a goal to open the first Community Preservation project application cycle in September 2026; the CPC also targeted completion of its Community Preservation Plan for Jan/Feb 2026 and planned a public workshop for April/May 2026.
The Community Preservation Commission met July 16, 2025, to continue work on developing the Amesbury Community Preservation Plan and to set initial timelines and staffing. Members reviewed model plans from other communities and discussed plan content including guiding principles, the application and evaluation processes, and using social media to communicate the CPC’s mission. The commission discussed a target completion date for the CPC plan in January/February 2026 and planned a public workshop in April/May 2026 to educate residents about the process and goals.
Key actions taken included appointing Mel Webster as the minute taker (approved 8-0) and a motion to set a goal of opening the first Community Preservation project application cycle in September 2026 (approved 8-0). The board also agreed to invite representatives from the Recreation Department to the November meeting and scheduled the next meeting for August 20 at 6:00 p.m. No public comments are recorded in the official minutes.
