Recommended approval of the Barking Dog outdoor dining permit at 18 Friend St; TRC discussed and provided advisory comments for a ZBA inquiry on 276, 278, and 280 Main St regarding the ability to connect to the Main St water main.
The Technical Review Committee met and reviewed an outdoor dining permit application for the Barking Dog at 18 Friend St. The committee approved a recommendation to permit 3–4 tables on the grass and use up to 3 feet of the 7-foot sidewalk (leaving a 4-foot clear path), yielding about 120 square feet of outdoor space. The committee noted that the dining area must be contained if alcohol is served and the applicant must seek Liquor License Commission approval for outdoor alcohol service; the applicant confirmed they will install a corral and that the layout will not impede the front walk or parking lot entrance.
Members also discussed a ZBA comment request for 276, 278, and 280 Main St. Departments were urged to provide proactive, subject-matter comments: DPW to clarify whether the project can connect to the existing Main St water main, police to address traffic impacts, and the fire department to review egress changes. The committee also briefly discussed the address-assignment process and noted a subcommittee is working on public-safety address standards and accepted street naming. The meeting concluded with routine administrative actions including approval of prior minutes and adjournment.
