Council on Aging Board Meeting
The Amesbury Council on Aging Board met on April 10, 2025. Attendance included board officers, staff, and program personnel. The board reviewed and unanimously approved the February 13 and March 13, 2025 meeting minutes. The Treasurer reported revolving account expenditures for van fuel and a Misc. Grants Fund expense for key tags, replacement clocks, and reimbursement for birthday flowers; ending balances were reported for both accounts. Larry announced he will step down as treasurer at the next election.
Quarterly statistics showed 109 new members and a notable increase in Meals on Wheels deliveries; Social Services activity was slightly down, attributed to temporary staffing reductions and changes in recertification frequency for some assistance applicants. In the Director’s report, staff and program updates were given: Program Coordinator Jack Supino is acclimating well and the Red Sox event drew about 50 attendees; volunteer social worker Rich Stewart will be leaving on June 5; the center’s van was not in use pending arrival of a new van around May 25 and the Recreation Department van is being used Fridays for select trips. Facility maintenance needs were noted (rotting dumpster fencing and foundation damage from salt). Spring programming updates included Senior Tax Work-off participants starting, a new music class, Musical Bingo replacing some van trips, and an Age Span volunteer celebration held April 9. No FCOA updates were reported. The next regular meeting was scheduled for May 8.
