Library Board of Trustees Communications Subcommittee Meeting
Discussed publicity around the Facilities Master Plan (including the circulation desk move) and planned informational materials about the upcoming library budget, including an infographic and usage charts.
The Communications Committee met to review outstanding outreach items and plan informational materials. Members finalized a response explaining the difference between the Friends and the Trustees and assigned follow-up work to revise the Trustees' duties description; Aimie provided feedback on Library of Things content. The group discussed ongoing Facilities Master Plan (FMP) conversations prompted by the circulation desk move and agreed to pursue an article in the Chamber of Commerce newsletter (next likely deadline March 15) and to add FAQ/capital planning content to the FMP page. Two members registered for a Boston Public Library listening session on accessibility.
Budget-season outreach was a major topic: Aimie will draft an informational letter about the library budget and Trustees will assist with distribution; the committee discussed creating an infographic and sharing usage charts (which show patron activity returning to pre-pandemic levels) and linking materials on Amesbury Talks. The committee also discussed visibility for Amesbury authors (local-author stickers exist) and exploring a Stacks bookstore section, agreed to invite a member of the Friends' marketing subcommittee to future meetings, and noted upcoming regional legislative breakfasts and a possible Advocacy Day in March.
