Council on Aging Board Meeting
Contract signed to install railings at the Costello Center; consideration of relocating the 2025 Health Fair to Coastal Connections' new site behind the Post Office; Holiday Luncheon set for Dec. 11 (Toys for Tots drive, tickets $10 members/$15 non-members).
The Amesbury Council on Aging Board met on November 14, 2024. Director Doreen presented operational updates including a scanning accuracy test (Sept–Oct average 95.5%) and the decision to repeat that audit in six months. The Board reviewed facility improvements at the Costello Center: a railing contract has been signed, a sample was viewed, and railings will be installed along both sides of the first-floor hallway and portions of the second-floor hallway. The Treasurer reported recent van-related and gas expenditures from the revolving account and the Board noted that statistics will be reported quarterly, with the next report scheduled for January 16.
Programming and outreach items were discussed and scheduled: a Medicare supplemental comparison presentation by BCBS (about 20 attendees) and a Veteran’s Lunch on November 8 were noted, a book reading/performance is scheduled for November 21, a Holiday Luncheon is set for December 11 (tickets $10 for FCOA members, $15 for non-members) with a Toys for Tots drive, and a COA team party is planned for December 13. The Board discussed a possible collaboration to move the 2025 Health Fair to Coastal Connections’ new location behind the Post Office because of larger space and parking. A suggestion was made to collect participant feedback at events; a survey for the Computer Class is being analyzed. No public comments are recorded in the minutes. The Board agreed to revisit expectations for board member roles at the next meeting.
