AES Building Committee Meeting
Project status update for the AES School Building project will be discussed, along with votes to approve the July 25, 2024 meeting minutes, and approval of commitments and invoices. The committee will also set a proposed next meeting date.
The Cashman School Council met on September 26, 2024. The meeting’s only recorded formal action was a motion by Dr. Amy Mitchell to recommend Lori McCrevan; the motion passed unanimously with eight votes. Attendees also received updates and provided feedback on several start-of-school operational items.
Community feedback and staff updates focused on accessibility of information and daily routines: a request from the Wellness Committee to include the Wellness Policy in the Cashman Comment and on the school website, and a Technology Committee plan to update the school-based website. Start-of-school updates reported cafeteria table arrangement and improved student flow, recess changes including a plan for the gym teacher to create and post universal Gaga Ball rules, and transportation improvements with better morning bus timing and no disciplinary write-ups so far. Parents raised concerns about flexible 5th-grade math grouping given the absence of a Math Interventionist, and questions about Halloween/parade logistics and possible alternatives (e.g., a Fall Festival or STEM activities); the council noted the district reconfiguration discussion and the upcoming October 10 School Committee meeting. The council listed its meeting dates through June 2025.
