Council on Aging Board Meeting
Discussion of Age Friendly Task Force work, updates on the Costello Center and upcoming fall/winter programming, and reports from the Friends of the Council on Aging (FCOA).
The board reviewed routine business and program updates. The Treasurer reported an ending balance for the Misc. Grants account and noted expenditures; Doreen reported that the COA has received two large grants (BHOPE for $149,000 and CONEKT for $100,000). Board discussion covered service areas supported by funding (congregate lunches, Meals on Wheels, home meal delivery) and a suggestion to provide regular reports on large grant account activity.
Operational updates included hiring Sue Dysart as the new Outreach and BHope Coordinator (the Outreach Coordinator position was expanded), Costello Center finishing touches (mayor purchasing clocks), and programming notes such as the Veteran’s Lunch scheduled for November 8. The board also agreed that statistics will be reported monthly with a quarterly recap and that the BOD will receive a quarterly update at the next meeting in October. The Friends of the COA reported $54,000 in donations to the COA this fiscal year and summarized recent successful events (Health Fair, Live Well Amesbury).
