Library Board of Trustees Meeting
The Amesbury Public Library Board of Trustees met on May 8, 2024. Trustees received routine reports: the Director’s and Facilities reports, an update on the Conditions Assessment and Facilities Master Plan work with Bruner/Cott (BC), and subcommittee scheduling. The board approved the April minutes and adjourned at 8:02 PM.
Substantive discussion focused on facility problems and planning: persistent water infiltration in the Tech Services office (drying equipment had been removed, the situation worsened, and the Director is working with BC and the DPW on downspout/gutter solutions and potential reconfiguration of adjacent public space for staff); ongoing pest issues in the attic; and capital-project statuses (window restoration and emergency lighting on hold or awaiting quotes, climate-control monitoring for Special Collections showing recurring issues). Meghan reported initial materials and renderings from BC and asked trustees to provide visioning-question feedback by May 14 to inform a public meeting in early June. The Director’s report covered staffing at current FTE, MFA implementation for Office 365, recent and upcoming programs (including solar-eclipse outreach and successful teen events), collections displays, and a stats roundup; trustees were reminded of the May 29 City Council budget meeting where the Director will present. Public comment: none.
