Council on Aging Board Meeting
The Board reviewed routine business including the Treasurer’s and Statistics reports and unanimously approved the prior meeting minutes. Discussion of the Statistics report included a recommendation to better use the My Senior Center software for reporting. Staffing and transportation updates noted the van driver’s last day (April 29) and that a replacement has not yet been found; the new vehicle was noted as arriving in June.
Director Doreen Arnfield delivered detailed Costello Center updates and programming/operations items: building painting and new furniture are complete, upstairs rooms are being cleared for renovations, a deep kitchen cleaning/organization will occur, and the game room has been repurposed as the meeting space with scheduling to be handled by the City. A contractor measured for hallway railings and the Board will seek additional estimates. Grant activity was reviewed (EOEA EMHOT submitted; NSRAW grant for a receptionist/trainee pending City Council vote; CONEKT program experiencing equipment delays but has broadcast breakfasts and plans exercise classes). Upcoming events were confirmed, including a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon on April 17 and a Senior Cookout on June 27. The FCOA guest reported on Live Well Amesbury/Health Fair planning and a donation to a pet fund; next Board meeting scheduled for May 9 at 3:00.
