Ordinance and Administration Committee Meeting
Subcommittee appointed Attorneys Leonard Johnson and Bethany Raffa as non-voting members and accepted the 2024 meeting calendar; consideration of City Council rules-change ordinances (2024-002 and 2024-016 through 2024-022) was continued to the next Ordinance & Administration Subcommittee meeting.
The Ordinance & Administration Subcommittee convened to handle organizational matters and to address proposed changes to City Council rules. Councilors selected subcommittee leadership and unanimously approved the 2024 meeting calendar. The subcommittee also appointed Attorneys Leonard Johnson and Bethany Raffa as non-voting members. Several organizational votes passed unanimously (3-0).
Members heard public comment from school committee representatives expressing concern about the proposed school budget and from a councilor who described outreach to the City Clerk’s office and mayoral staff regarding proposed rules changes. The bulk of the rules-related ordinance items (2024-002 and 2024-016 through 2024-022) were discussed briefly and the subcommittee voted to continue those items until the next scheduled Ordinance & Administration Subcommittee meeting so the Ad-Hoc Rules Committee / full Council can further consider them.
