Trustees of War Memorials Meeting
Trustees approved and marked three locations for an Eagle Scout project (concrete pads and benches), directed staff to complete and submit the Veterans’ Heritage Grant report to the state, and announced plans to pursue Purple Heart City designation targeting August 2026.
The Trustees met on November 18, 2025. After roll call and a reading of the board mission, trustees unanimously approved the September 30, 2025 minutes. Financial reporting noted a Trust Fund principal of $3,000 and interest bringing the balance to $17,036.74 before an outstanding invoice; the RESTOR account remained unchanged at $15,625.15.
Business items focused on grant reporting, a volunteer-built Eagle Scout project, and maintenance/fundraising planning. Paul presented a draft Veterans’ Heritage Grant allotment and expenditures; trustees discussed volunteer-hour documentation and adding before-and-after photos. Paul and Victoria will collaborate to place the report on city letterhead and submit it to the state to complete reporting. The mayor reported that three locations for concrete pads and benches for an Eagle Scout project were approved and marked out; trustees indicated no objection to delaying installation if weather requires. Maintenance updates included the cannon being shrink-wrapped (invoice pending), ideas for a 2026 fundraising program such as a brick campaign, and announcing plans to pursue Purple Heart City designation with activities around Purple Heart Day in August 2026. Trustees also noted the upcoming intersection renovation by the Polish Memorial flagpoles as a possible candidate for future restoration funding. The next meeting was scheduled for February 17, 2026.
