Revised Board of Health Meeting
Agenda includes staff briefings and regional reports on public health operations — mosquito spraying, a toxic spill update, and an Ekiomille rat eradication trial — plus the MVPHA FY25 report. The board will also discuss Lake Gardner signage and revision of BOH rules and regulations.
The Board received routine staff reports from health inspectors and the regional nurse covering food inspections, housing complaints, A1C/glucose screenings, and outreach preparations for an upcoming Live Well Celebration. Inspectors reported a tobacco sales violation for which a hearing will be scheduled, and described follow-up testing at Lake Gardner after E. coli readings exceeded safe levels on 8/13, 8/14, and 8/18; signage at Lake Gardner has been completed and retesting is underway to facilitate reopening. The regional nurse noted ongoing screening activities and grant-writing certification efforts.
Members agreed the Board of Health’s web page needs updating and supported creating social media accounts (initially Facebook and Instagram); staff will use a PHE grant-funded web designer and coordinate with the City’s Communications Director to implement changes. The Board also directed staff to pursue revisions to the Board of Health Rules and Regulations (currently dated 2011), including proposed fee changes, with plans to coordinate submission to the Mayor’s Office, Finance, and City Council.
