Council on Aging Board Meeting
COA Director Doreen announced her retirement effective July 21, 2025; Treasurer Larry is stepping down and Cathleen will provide interim treasurer reports until a new Treasurer is voted in.
The board met on June 12, 2025 for routine COA business, receiving reports from the secretary, treasurer, director, and FCOA representatives. The board accepted the May minutes and heard the treasurer’s account balances and recent expenditures; Lawrence Leahy reported he is stepping down as Treasurer and Cathleen will provide future reports until a new Treasurer is voted in. Quarterly statistics will be reported at the August meeting.
Director Doreen announced her retirement effective July 21, 2025 and thanked the COA team; Courtney Hutchinson will coordinate with the Mayor on transition steps and the board will be notified once plans are determined. Operational updates included staff departures (Rich Stewart’s last day was June 5), Costello Center maintenance (second-floor floors waxed, outdoor tents added), resumed and planned programming (walking group, van trips, Father’s Day event), a center closure on June 19, and several summer events (June 26 cookout; Fun Friday June 27). The board also agreed that Handyman clients who wish to pay should be advised to make donations to the Friends of the COA. FCOA representatives reported that the Health Fair will not be held this year, the Lion’s Club will take over the Live Well event with FCOA still receiving table donations and possibly staffing a seniors area, and a yard sale will be held June 28 in conjunction with the city. The next regular meeting was scheduled for August 14, 2025.
