Energy, Environment, and Sustainability Committee
The Amesbury Energy, Environment, and Sustainability Committee serves the citizens, businesses, and city government through research, education, and recommendations regarding issues of energy, environment and sustainability related to our city. These topics include but are not limited to: The cost and availability of energy; Safeguarding the health of residents; Enhancing the resilience of public and private infrastructure to extreme weather events; Minimizing the economic impacts of climate change; Improving the overall living environment of Amesbury.

Committee will plan the November 7 "Pumpkin Smash" composting event and review adoption of the Renewable Energy Siting Regulations effective Oct 1, 2026. Members will also review ongoing projects (National Grid PPP, Lumos Lighting, CES RTU #5 feasibility, Green Communities grant items), solid waste initiatives including PAYT, mattress recycling and composting opportunities, and receive the Energy Manager’s monthly report with Q&A.
